Tor Nørretranders (Denmark)

Tor Nørretranders (b.1955) is a Danish writer. His books explore the way we perceive the world and how it perceives us. The everyday cheerfulness of the language in the books derives from Tor’s theoretical commitment to understanding the nature and scope of knowledge and expression.

His academic background is Academic background:

cand.techn.soc. (M.Sc.) from Roskilde University 1982 (philosophy and sociology of science applied to socio-economic planning). Academically employed at Technical University of Denmark (1982-83), Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (1990-91), Risø National Laboratory (1993). Director of the Mindship Foundation (1995-96). Adjunct Professor of the Philosophy of Science at Copenhagen Business School from 2003.

Nørretranders

Science writer at leading Copenhagen daily and weekly newspapers (Information, Weekendavisen, Børsens Nyhedsmagasin, Politiken) and the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (Danmarks Radio), hosting the tv-show “Hvælv”. Received the non-fiction prize of the Danish Writers Union, 1985, and the publicist prize of of the Danish Publicist Club, 1988.

Numerous articles in anthologies, journals, periodicals and newspapers. Lectures in academic, corporate and trade union audiences as well as general public audiences. Advisory and consultancy tasks for Council of Europe, Danish government bodies, scientific institutions, private companies, trade unions and art groups. Contributions to book anthologies and websites like edge.org.
