The Real Junk Food Project
aiming to abolish surplus food
The Real Junk Food Project is a global, organic network of Pay As You Feel concepts. They divert surplus edible food destined for waste and make it accessible for human consumption. They believe it is a human right to have access to food and the scale and senselessness of food waste has to stop. They believe this needs to happen in our lifetime, to ensure that the next generation do not suffer because of our ignorance.
The Real Junk Food Project is a network of projects, charities and volunteers, steered and advised by our trustees and other experts and activists from a range of fields and industries.
Real Junk Food
Fuel For School
The success of the work in one Leeds based school inspired a local awareness day where schools across Leeds were invited to take part in an event where food would be made available to provide a breakfast to any child in the city. Eventually 10,000 children were signed up from Leeds, Bradford, Sunderland and Doncaster and on Dec 8th 2015 children received food that would have otherwise been thrown away.
The legacy of this awareness day is the formal creation of Fuel for School.
