Outdoor therapist Dr. Ruth Allen, invites us to travel beyond four walls and step into nature, where we can heal, experience and take the next steps on our path. "A journey outdoors can reflect the inner journey we go through …"

Ruth Allen is a qualified outdoor counsellor/psychotherapist, a person-centered, therapeutic coach, and an experienced trainer and facilitator. She offers weekly sessions and multi-day ‘intensive’ journeys. She is specialized in outdoor practice, nature connection and the power of relationship and interested in how we make meaning of our lives, the stories we tell, and the things we’ve been through. She is also a writer, speaker, adventurer – exploring the intersections between nature connection, adventure, health and wellbeing, movement and story.

In autumn 2018, Ruth Allen ran solo and unsupported across the Bosnian Dinaric Alps, an assumed world first, and she continues to enjoy inspiring people through new adventures that combines her love for place, people and purpose. In 2020, she will return to the Balkans to run the Dinaric Alps again from Montenegro to Albania. Day-to-day she enjoys the small adventures and can be found kayaking, running and biking in the UK uplands.

In 2019, she gladly took on the supervisory role of CIC Director for ‘Rooted for Girls’ a unique woodland-based psycho-educational program for teenage girls in the North of England.

The power of the outdoors - particularly outdoor therapy and outdoor wellbeing - is an emerging area of public (health) interest. Nature is a place of becoming. A place of story-telling. A place to find yourself in context to the world around you. It is a place to get perspective, to heal and to overcome yourself. It is a place to imagine and explore big dreams. For clients interested in coaching outdoors Ruth Allen offers completely bespoke ‘Coaching on the Trail’ options unique to her at White Peak Wellbeing with options available in the Peak District, Lake District, North Wales and other locations (including international) on request. She has been walking and running the mountains of the world for many years, and know the power of the outdoors for motivating and facilitating big changes.
