Healing pain, fear and mistrust

SULHA PEACE PROJECT

They are a wonderful group of Israelis and Palestinians who meet regularly to encounter with open hearts, in full humanity. Together, they demonstrate that they, the children of Abraham/Ibrahim, share a common destiny. Twelve years ago, at the height of the El Aksa intifada, when Israel and Palestine were locked into terror of the other side, the Sulha Peace Project was born. As coffee shops exploded and soldiers fired into crowds of youths, they brought Israelis and Palestinians together in a human encounter and, through wholehearted listening, they explored and strengthened the bonds that link them with each other. They have been doing it ever since.

SULHA

In contrast to the current atmosphere of distrust, cynicism and despair, they stand for the possibility of cooperation, shared responsibility, and hope. While our societies demonize those on the other side, they humanize them. Through their common efforts, they create interaction between the people while others alienate. While they avoid polarizing political declarations, they know that any political future must address the human needs of both sides, and they stand on the front lines of the struggle to return decency and compassion to our shared land. Love is unconditional. Love is the birthright of each human being.
