TASULEASA SOCIAL (Romania)
Creating Meaningful Impact
A love story about people, nature and co-creating a beautiful country. Some of their widest spread projects are: the Pedagogical Forest, the only “school” in Romania where you can learn why a forest is important, how it grows and how it helps to keep the balance between air, water and life. The afforestation campaigns (during the latest campaign 10 hectares of trees were planted, with the help of 1200 volunteers, in one day), Via Maria Theresia Marathon, a mountain running competition, the Mountaineering School, the first non-formal camping and hiking „school” for adults, the Christmas Truck, an action turned education project about change in society on Children’s Volunteer Day and Via Transilvanica, along distance walking trail that links cultures and customs throughout its 1000 km.
Tasuleasa Social is a Romanian non-profit organization founded by Alin Useriu-Uhlmann in 2001, with the purpose of creating meaningful impact at a social, environmental and cultural level. "To change Romania for the better tomorrow, we need to change mentalities today", according to Alin Useriu, who grew one of the most important NGO's in Romania with 10.000 volunteers, over 150 000 planted trees, 200 tons of garbage collected from the woods, 10 renovated and fully equipped schools, medicine worth of 1 million Euros donated to the sick and poor, one ecological water treatment plant and 3 hectares of "Pedagogical Forest", a space in which children can learn about the importance of clean waters and forests.
