Eliyahu McLean and Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bukhari
Sheikh Bukhari is one of a long line of Sufi leaders going back centuries. He promotes interfaith dialogue with religious leaders and ordinary people of all persuasions. He lives with his family in the Old City of Jerusalem. Eliyahu McLean is a Jewish peacemaker living in West Jerusalem. He works and prays with people of all beliefs and he speaks out internationally for reconciliation in the Holy Land. Together Eliyahu and Sheikh Bukhari formed Jerusalem Peacemakers.
Working together to unite all people in the Holy Land. Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bukhari is the co-founder of Jerusalem Peacemakers and the head of the Naqshabandi Sufi order in Jerusalem. Sheikh Bukhari's family came to Jerusalem from Bukhara 400 years ago, and their home has been a center for visiting Muslim pilgrims and visitors of all faiths since then. Sheikh Bukhari is a leading Muslim voice for peace and reconciliation in Jerusalem. He also hosts the Uzbek Cultural Centre of the Holy Land in his home.
Eliyahu McLean is the director of the Jerusalem Peacemakers, a group of religious leaders and grassroots peacebuilders in Jerusalem and the Holy Land. Eliyahu organizes monthly inter-religious Israeli-Palestinian peace gatherings in East and West Jerusalem and coordinates the Abrahamic Reunion, a group of Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Druze religious leaders working together to re-claim religion as a source for peace. Eliyahu is also a board member and interfaith advisor for the Sulha Peace Project, which hosts an annual event which brings together thousands of Israelis and Palestinians.
