Klaas van Egmond
Klaas van Egmond (1946) is Faculty Professor on Geosciences at Utrecht University within the Utrecht Sustainability Institute. He is lecturing on sustainability and environmental issues, in particular air quality and climate change. He graduated from Wageningen University in 1972 in Food Technology and started his career with research on air, soil and water pollution at the National Institute for Health and Environment (RIVM). He published on monitoring and modeling of air quality in peer reviewed journals.
Apart from his professorship at Utrecht University Klaas van Egmond is also advisor on sustainability issues at Triodos Bank (Zeist, the Netherlands). In 2011 he was one of the initiators of the so called Sustainable Finance Lab, a think tank of the Netherlands most leading economists for finding solutions to the financial crisis. He further chairs the scientific council of the Netherlands Meteorological Institute. Since 2012 Klaas van Egmond is royal member (government representative) on thenational Socio-Economic council (SER).
