Art & Green
It's not easy to describe Careel Art & Green. For sure, it's a somewhat hidden pearl in the mountains of Tranyslvania, Romania. The founders, Carmen Todita (a Romanian artist) and Eelke Wiersma (a Dutch ecologist) make love visible in a wide spectrum of activities. The Green is about protecting the biodiversity in Transylvania and teaching people, students about the importance of the co-creative relationships between humans and the earth, transforming the practice and culture of gardening agriculture to renew the vitality of the earth, the integrity of our food, and the health and wholeness of our communities.
The Art is about sharing the talents of Carmen Todita as an artist and supporting others to develop their own talents on the field of art. Carmen regularly organizes art expositions and workshops.
Carmen Todita & Eelke Wiersma are very active in stimulating the consciousness around art and green in The Netherlands and Romania. They built bridges between the people of those two countries to exchange knowledge, wisdom and experience. Visiting their place in Transylvania is a unique experience as there not many places where people and nature is cared by so much love and attention. With over 650 counted different species on their ground, you'll find a touch of paradise in nature that is rather unique in Europe. Students from Western Europe come to make study of the last treasures of flora and fauna in this part of Transylvania. Casa Careel is also a pearl for nature lovers to recharge their spirits and reconnect with themselves, away from the restraints of society and the stress of the everyday. Eelke & Carmen offer space for tents, caravan and campers, but also simple cabins and a charming wooden chalet ... for those looking for quiet, relaxation, being out of reach, getting back to basics, feeling human again.
